Star Yelp: Themed Review Platform
Star Yelp is a Yelp-inspired web app set in the Star Citizen universe. Pilots can post stations, repair shops, and space-food stops, then rate and review each listing to help travelers plan better routes. The live demo is available at star-yelp.onrender.com.
Making a Familiar Pattern Feel Specific
The challenge here was not only building listings, reviews, and search, but making the product feel like it belonged to a particular world. The sci-fi framing gives the interface personality, while the information architecture still has to behave like a dependable review platform. That mix of structure and theme is what makes the project memorable.
Focus: Responsive CRUD, search, themed UX, and community-driven content.
Stack: React, Flask, PostgreSQL, authentication, and review workflows.
What it shows: Full-stack delivery with a stronger narrative layer than a standard clone project.

Why It Matters
Star Yelp demonstrates how I approach product building even in playful contexts: solid data relationships underneath, clear user tasks up front, and enough visual identity to make the experience feel authored rather than generic. It is a good example of using story to sharpen, not distract from, functionality.
